Welcome to the Senate Environmental Quality Committee

JURISDICTION: Bills relating to environmental quality, air quality, water quality, climate change, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), waste management, pesticides, and hazardous materials.

As of February 28, 2023, the Governor terminated the state's COVID-19 State of Emergency. Procedures put in place to accommodate the pandemic restrictions have been reverted back to pre-pandemic practices. Teleconference testimony during committee hearings will no longer be available.

The Senate continues to welcome the public and provides access to both in-person and written participation for public comment. If you are unable to attend a hearing in person, written comments or testimony can be provided directly to the committees by emailing the committee or utilizing the Advocacy Portal.

We encourage the public to submit written testimony before the hearing through the position letter portal. Please note that any written testimony submitted to the committee is considered public comment and may be read into the record or reprinted.

You are strongly advised to submit your position letter(s) ASAP via the Advocacy Portal, do not wait for bills to be noticed in the Daily File.

It is the responsibility of an organization/individual to submit an updated position letter to the Committee if the organization's/individual's position on a bill changes.
